Commentary:
(1) My subsequent conversation with Jessica Wilkinson was marred by my objections to Jessica’s reading Marion’s recreated voice with a stammer, which Marion Davies had in real life. As I had grown up with a severe stammer I had an emotional response to Jessica’s decision, a response which was inappropriate and which I now regret. J.T.
(2) Robert Sullivan (Nga Puhi / Kai Tahu / Irish) is the head of the School of Creative Writing at Manukau Institute of Technology, Auckland. He is a large and powerful man; it is odd to hear his unexpectedly light voice. The easy rapport between Sullivan and Adams, who works as a judge part-time, fitted well with the New Zealand temperament.

These are scans of pages of a Tapa Notebook, filled out by Australian poet John Tranter for the University of Auckland Library. It recounts his experiences in Auckland in March 2012 at the University’s symposium ‘Short Takes on Long Poems’. John has published an internet journal with similar material. This Notebook has the advantage of handwriting, doodles, decoupage and lots of colourful New Zealand stamps.
